Michael Fogarty, Healogics Chief Operating Officer

Healogics®, the nation’s wound expert, today announced that it has appointed Michael Fogarty to serve as Chief Operating Officer. He will be replacing Greg Martin who will be retiring at the end of this year.

In this role, Fogarty will be responsible for providing management and operational oversight for all lines of business, including the outpatient Wound Care Centers® and other wound care programs in Healogics’ portfolio of services. Additionally, he will evaluate the potential integration of process re-engineering initiatives to ensure Healogics is addressing customer needs while optimizing an efficient operations function. Fogarty will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, David Bassin.

Fogarty is an accomplished leader with over 30 years of experience in the healthcare and financial services industries, including his most recent position with UnitedHealth Group® as the Senior Vice President, Operations Global Quality. During his time at UnitedHealth, Fogarty made significant contributions to the business through the establishment of continuous improvement and operational quality practices throughout the organization. Specifically, he was responsible for the oversight of UnitedHealth’s OptumHealth line of business and the infusion of a culture of quality across Optum®’s 60 product lines. He led various initiatives within OptumCare’s clinics including working with onsite leaders to instill lean practices and quality service to improve the patient experience, achieving the number one ranking for culture of quality in the U.S. and number three in the world from the Process Excellence Network. He also drove $1.5B in operational improvement benefits.

Fogarty served in the United States Marine Corps and was one of the first GE black belts hired into a continuous improvement quality role in 1995. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of North Dakota.
