Medline officially announced the launch of the ComfortTemp® Patient Warming System, including disposable blankets and gowns, a product designed to improve upon similar systems on the market and provide unparalleled comfort and temperature regulation for patients. The 510K Class 2 device features an innovative lock-in hose mechanism and rotating elbow connector that securely connects the ComfortTemp blower and retractable hose to ComfortTemp blankets and gowns.
"We designed the ComfortTemp system to address specific challenges our customers were experiencing with patient warming systems," said Charlie Ling, Medline product manager for the operating room division. "Perioperative departments and surgery centers looking for advanced technology that improves this important facet of the surgical process will find ComfortTemp easy to use and a great way to enhance the surgery experience for both patients and clinical team members."
Maintaining a patient's core body temperature in the periop setting is critical for optimizing surgical outcomes, reducing surgical complications, preserving metabolic functions and enhancing overall patient comfort. Without patient warming, perioperative hypothermia can develop, leading to various patient difficulties that include cardiac complications, impaired or prolonged wound healing, surgical wound infections, decreased collagen synthesis, decreased drug metabolism and other conditions.
The ComfortTemp system uses advanced materials and technology to regulate body temperature and decrease the risk of hypothermia in pre-, intra- and post-surgery. The blanket system can be set up via steel carrier, IV pole clamp or bed rail mount. Additionally, setup via wall mount is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2025. ComfortTemp blankets allow for effective heat retention while maintaining breathability and preventing overheating.
ComfortTemp gowns, meanwhile, feature detachable upper- and lower-body blankets that provide the same temperature regulation benefits while promoting SKU consolidation. The gown's breathable fabric offers cool comfort for clinicians and patients alike without compromising reliable protection.
