Turn-Key Health (TKH), an Enclara Healthcare company, serving health plans, provider organizations and their members who experience a serious or advanced illness, announces that Mary D. Naylor, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, the Marian S. Ware Professor in Gerontology and director of the New Courtland Center for Transitions and Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, has joined its advisory board.
Dr. Naylor brings more than two decades of experience leading a multidisciplinary team of clinical scholars and health services researchers in generating and disseminating research findings designed to enhance the care and outcomes of chronically ill older adults and their family caregivers.
The architect of the Transitional Care Model, she and her team designed a care management approach proven in multiple NIH clinical trials and foundation-sponsored implementation efforts to improve older adults’ experience with care and health outcomes, while decreasing use of costly health services.
“As we sharpen our focus on empowering individuals with an advanced illness to make informed choices that improve quality of life, Dr. Naylor’s breadth, depth, and diversity of experience broadens our capabilities to serve this vulnerable population,” says Greer Myers, president, Turn-Key. “Her impeccable reputation for collaborative leadership further strengthens our approach, and I’m confident she will make enormous contributions as we expand our industry partnerships. It’s an extremely satisfying time to be part of Turn-Key, and we place significant value on Dr. Naylor’s knowledge, passion and desire to impact the lives of seniors who face a serious or advanced illness.”
Currently, Dr. Naylor is a member of the National Academy of Medicine’s Leadership Consortium on Value & Science-Driven Health Care and co-chairs the Care Culture and Decision-Making Innovation Collaborative. She is also a member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s National Advisory Council and the Board of the Dorothy Rider Pool Health Care Trust. Additionally, she serves as a member of Villanova University’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Naylor received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University, her Master of Science in Nursing and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Naylor adds, “I am honored to join this exceptional team, and view this as an opportunity to collaborate on improving the health and quality of life for this fragile population. Turn-Key’s palliative care solution enables identification, structured patient engagement, and measurement of outcomes in large populations, over broad geographies – an elusive goal for traditional palliative care. The model aligns physicians and other healthcare professionals to organize and coordinate patient care, relieve caregiver stress and create seamless transitions that directly achieve safer, more effective care.”
